Prof. Jean-Pierre Laborde

Now Professor Emeritus of the University of Bordeaux and Member of the Centre for Comparative Labour and Social Security Law (Comptrasec), Jean-Pierre Laborde was born on 20 March 1947 in Séméac (Hautes-Pyrénées,France). He holds a doctorate in private international law from the University of Bordeaux 1 and received his Agrégation in private law in 1982. First Professor at the University of Angiers, from 1983 to 1984, he has been Professor at the University of Bordeaux 1, afterwards University Montesquieu-Bordeaux IV and later University of Bordeaux, since 1984. He was Director of the Centre of Comparative Labour and Social Security Law (Comptrasec) of the University of Bordeaux 1, afterwards Bordeaux IV, from 1988 to 1998, and Deputy President for Research of the University Montesquieu-Bordeaux IV from 1996 to 2001. He was President of the University Montesquieu-Bordeaux IV from 2006 to 2011. His lectures concern social security law, French labour law and French private international law. He is the author of a handbook on social security law (2005) and of the most recent editions of a short handbook on private international law (2006, 2008 and 2014, in the most recent edition with Professor Sandrine Sana-Chaillé de Néré, from the University of Bordeaux). Prolonging the work of Professor Michel Despax (†), he is the co-author, with Professor Jacques Rojot, from the University of Paris 2, of a book on Labour Law in France (Wolters Kluwer, Law & Business, 2011). He is also the author of numerous articles in the field of labour law, social security law and private international law. He gave lectures in several foreign universities.
